KK is the founder of Care Beyond the Boulevard, Inc. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been in the medical field for over 25 years. She served as a Registered Nurse for 20 years before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2016.

She has a strong desire and drive to provide medical care to those who are marginalized and often overlooked by mainstream society. It is her firm belief that every person should be treated with respect and shown the same concern as we would want for any of our family members.

Senia Shields

Secretary

Senia is a clinical social worker and licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. She received her masters from KU and has been working in mental health for 15 years.

In 1993 she co-founded the Will To Succeed Foundation with her husband and for the last 25 years she has been involved with various organizations in the community.

Senia was introduced to Care Beyond the Boulevard by her daugher, Sanayika, who was volunteering for CBB and encouraged her to get involved.

“Sanayika and I believe that the health of our society is determined by how we treat the old, the poor and the marginalized.  Neither housing nor healthcare should be reserved for a certain sector of society;  rather, it should be a right of all. ”  Senia Shields

Teresa Cordell

Treasurer

Teresa Cordell, is a wife, and mother to two delightful, almost completely grown daughters whom she routinely still tries to smother with affection.

She also proudly manages the largest equestrian facility in the Midwest, Fire Stables, in Lenexa, Kansas.

Teresa became involved with Care Beyond the Boulevard as the result of a mutual friendship, but it wasn’t until she actually went out on the streets and met the souls living there, that she knew she had to be a part of it. Her primary role is Treasurer and fundraiser, but anyone will tell you that she is actually, snack-manager-in-chief. Teresa believes that contrary to what the current leaders of our country are telling us, we actually are responsible for each other’s safety and well-being, and that compassionate healthcare is right, not a luxury.

Volunteer

Medical Care on the Streets ...

Every week, people in need watch for the big green bus because they know that quality medical care has arrived …

In 2017 Care Beyond The Boulevard registered over 900 patient encounters, treating everything from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, COPD and hypertension, to acute disease such as abscesses, burns, seizures, STD’s and frostbite.

Word quickly began to spread among the homeless and other charitable organizations.

Then, in late 2017 we were graciously donated a school bus and the funds required for restoration. By Spring of 2018 our bus had been converted into a fully functional mobile clinic and was active on the streets! The big green bus has greatly improved our ability to care for patients in need as well as created greater visibility, helping us grow to reach even more patients in need. We are projected to exceed 2000 patient encounters in 2019.
